The main riff for this song has been around since the inception of Sartious. One of the first songs we ever made used it. However, that song is too embarrassingly awful to show to the public. Consider yourselves spared. Originally, this was also a love song. Not too sure how it turned into a hybrid between Huis Clos by Jean-Paul Sartre and Rosetta Stoned by Tool, though. The song ended a little differently at first. When the main character returns to see the aliens, they wind up eating him. I personally like that ending better, but what do I know! Human condition: Cowardice.
lyrics
As fate would have it the other day
I came across an alien race
They seem to live just below the ground
I can't believe what I had found
Their lizard bodies stood eight feet tall
I knew I stood no chance at all
And just as I considered myself dead
They turned to me and then they said
Won't you
come down
with us
We'll show
you some
secrets
Like how
all of time is
conceived
I said
no thanks
I'll leave
My fleeing motive was very clear
What got the best of me was fear
They could have told me how it all began
but in the end I'm a cowardly man
At night I still twist and I turn
wondering what it is that I could learn
My dreams were stuck on constant replay
over and over I hear them say:
Won't you
come down
with us
We'll show
you some
secrets
Like how
all of time is
conceived
I said
no thanks
I'll leave
[solo]
I went back to the cave again
Not a trace was left by them
Missed my chance to understand it all
feel so small
feel so small
never will
hear them call
Won't you
come down
with us
We'll show
you some
secrets
Like how
all of time is
conceived
Where are you going
please don't leave
